Astilbe provides eye-catching blooms in shade gardens during the summer. Bloom color is variety specific; choose from shades of white, pinks, purples and reds. The bloom spikes rise above lower growing foliage in plumes. Astilbe is a tough plant but it does not withstand drought well. Plant in areas with evenly moist soil, with the crown of the plant above soil level. Perfect for woodland gardens, shady rock gardens and massed as a groundcover. Blooms last well as a cut flower, if cut when only half opened.
