Jacob’s Ladder are deciduous perennials, with species from all over the world, including North America. They bloom in the spring and summer, usually blue blooms (although there are white, yellow, pink and purple blooming Jacob’s Ladder) There are also varieties with variegated foliage, which show up nicely in shade gardens. The fine texture of the foliage makes a good contrast with larger leaved plants such as hostas. Jacob’s Ladder work well in woodland and rock gardens, as well as in perennial borders.
