Flowering Quince are deciduous, frequently spiny shrubs that feature outstanding early season flowers. Bloom colors range from pink, pale pink, white, red and orange and show before the foliage appears in the spring. Although quince is considered an old fashioned shrub, there are new cultivars on the market now, many with re-blooming features. Apple-like, edible fruit appears in the fall.  Quince work well in groupings, as groundcover on a bank and as a low hedge.
